Why Has Eric Adams Been Indicted?
Eric Adams has been Mayor of New York since January 2021. Before that he was involved in local politics, and before that he was a time-serving New York police officer, retiring in 2006. At the turn of the Millennium he was briefly a Republican before returning to the Democrat fold, or perhaps that should be the Democrat plantation, because his recent indictment includes allegations dating back to 2014.
If he has been so blatantly corrupt for a decade, the question arises, why has he only been indicted now? Before answering that question, let us take a look at the allegations.
He is said to have received illegal contributions for his political campaigns, but there is no suggestion these donations went into his own pocket.
He is said to have received payments in kind from, of all sources, the Turkish Government. These payments are said to have included luxury travel and accommodation on his various jaunts abroad, and fine dining, something which is said to have been extended to his companions (plural).
These are often considered perks of the job, not only for powerful politicians but by all manner of lesser mortals. Currently, the Prime Minister of Britain is facing similar allegations, although they do not appear (yet) to rise to the level of criminality.
The most serious allegation Adams is facing, the most serious by far, is that he pressurised the New York Fire Department to pass a fire inspection for a 36 storey skyscraper at the behest of the Turkish Government, which was clearly one of the things he did to repay his benefactors. It is also the only crime with a capital C he is alleged to have committed, and it is serious for the obvious reason that it could endanger public safety. It is hardly surprising that after the 9/11 attacks, New Yorkers take anything relating to skyscrapers seriously.
In spite of this, Adams is taking things in his stride and had declined to stop down from his post. Now, the big question, why at this time?
The simple answer is that this is how the Democrats work. Andrew Cuomo served as Governor of New York for over a decade, including during the covid-19 lockdowns when his behaviour was responsible for the premature deaths of thousands of elderly people. The Democrats could not entertain the thought of him being held to account because he would have taken others down with him. This led to the odious Letitia James – the same woman who tried to destroy Donald Trump’s property empire – framing Cuomo for sexual harassment. This video – here and here – includes commentary by Greg Kelly and veteran legal pundit Alan Dershowitz who tear it to pieces.
The Democrats want to get rid of Adams for the same reason they got rid of Cuomo, namely he has become an embarrassment, not because he caused deaths of the elderly however unwittingly, but because he is one step away from being red-pilled. The manufactured migrant crisis coupled with the Democrats’ insane (non)policing policies has destroyed a once great city, and Adams has not been shy about protesting the former.
Indeed, in September last year, he told a town hall meeting the migrant crisis was indeed destroying New York. Previously he had said the city should welcome migrants, but a heavy dose of reality would eventually overcome his virtue signalling.
It remains to be seen if Adams will be convicted if he goes to trial, but his eventual replacement will inherit a poisoned chalice unless Donald Trump is returned to the White House. If he isn’t, not only will the Democrats win, but they will burn America to the ground so they can rule over the ashes.
