Why Dan Bongino Is Wrong About Google
Two years ago, Dan Bongino quit YouTube or was banned permanently from the site, depending on whose account you believe. If you don’t know the name, he is a former New York police officer, a former Secret Service officer, and a personal friend of Donald Trump.
Nowadays, as well as an occasional author, Dan is one of the biggest podcasters in the United States and one of the most influential in the rapidly dwindling Free World. At the time of writing, his daily show on Rumble has over 3 million followers.
Since parting company with YouTube, Dan has expressed nothing but disgust for its parent company, Google of course (or Alphabet Inc., however you want to package it).
He has repeatedly branded Google communist, but is this criticism fair?
The short answer is no, so is the long answer, in spite of people being banned, in spite of the seemingly inconsistent censorship, and in spite of the shadow banning as well as other dirty tricks like manipulating search results and selling user data.
First, let us list some of the good things about Google, only some because this is a truly massive company that offers the world many resources for free. Yes, when the service is free, you are the product, but if you are paranoid about corporations or governments spying on you, use a VPN, though in case you didn’t know it, your government is already spying on you. Here is the proof, and here is more proof.
Google gives you a free search engine, free e-mail account, free on-line storage, a free blog, free translator, and much more.
YouTube is the video hub of the world and allows people to upload a plethora of important videos that highlight such things as natural disasters, human rights abuses, wars...Because of this and because only the United States has the First Amendment, there are often conflicts with foreign governments that pressurise YouTube to remove or ban videos about certain subjects. This pressure also comes from within the United States and not only from US Government agencies. Like other companies in the industry, Google is largely unhappy with being pushed around, and the proof of this pudding is in the viewing. There are countless videos on YouTube that expose the hypocrisy and mendacity of both individual politicians and entire agencies. To take just one example, Justin Trudeau has been widely exposed as a plausible tyrant, largely by Google.
Pressure from within the United States is more difficult to resist, but resist Google does, including by hosting the recent hearings on the weaponisation of the Federal Government. Anyone who has watched a few hours of these hearings will realise how sinister this weaponisation has been and continues to be. Leading Democrats remain in denial, or are entirely happy with it, as are most of those higher up in the FBI and other agencies, but YouTube should be given credit for livestreaming these hearings. Communists and other tyrants will stop at nothing to control the media. Much of the mainstream American media is complicit with Government censorship and outright lying, while clearly, Google is not.
