This Ain’t The Summer Of Love
Readers of a certain vintage may recognise that phrase from the legendary Blue Öyster Cult, who incredibly are still around 58 years after the original Summer of Love. Younger readers will undoubtedly recall more vividly another Summer of Love, also known as the Summer of Floyd. Five years ago, the very public death of small time black recidivist George Floyd in Minneapolis was used as a pretext by many race-hustlers and even more communists to burn America’s cities to the ground.
This madness spread across the globe, literally, but the United States was clearly the country that suffered most with an estimated $2 billion damage, two dozen people dead and countless police officers injured.
At that time, Donald Trump was President, and probably with great reluctance he refused to send in the national guard. In addition to being branded a traitor, a sexual predator and much else, he had been labelled a fascist - the first fascist in history who sought to downsize rather than expand the bureaucracy.
If he had sent in the national guard or marines, this ludicrous allegation would have been magnified, but since the Summer of Floyd we have seen countless acts of mob violence, and the vast majority of the American public has had more than enough of it, especially shopkeepers who have seen their livelihoods destroyed.
Obviously calculating this, and needing to curtail the rot before it spreads, the President has now sent in both the national guard and marines to stamp out the insanity in Los Angeles. This has of course resulted in a deluge of abuse from leading Democrats and the mainstream media, but Trump 47 is a very different creature from Trump 45; the four year interlude has allowed him to accurately reassess the nature of the beast, and he is surrounded by people of the first calibre who are loyal to both him and the Constitution.
Attorney General Pam Bondi has announced the arrest of a previously deported illegal immigrant who threw a Molatov cocktail at police on Saturday. This man has now been charged with attempted murder.
Emiliano Garduno-Galvez has now been charged with attempted murder.
To cap this, two leading Democrats have also broken ranks. John Fetterman used to be a bit of a joke, a trust fund baby who dressed like a down and out, but, incredibly, since suffering a stroke in 2022, he has been imbued with an uncharacteristic common sense on a number of issues. Like him, Bernie Sanders has also spoken out against the wanton street violence, something that has not gone unnoticed by the comrades on this side of the Atlantic.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has also acknowledged that Trump did the right thing, albeit without saying so overtly. She has instituted a curfew from 8pm to 6am until the lunatics run out of steam.
The Trump Administration needs to keep up the pressure on the rioters, and, just as importantly, source and cut off their funding. These are not spontaneous uprisings; if the people and NGOs pouring money into them are held to account, we will hopefully see less of this madness in future, in the USA and elsewhere.
