The Rise Of The Fake Historians
In my previous article, I explained the concept of Revisionist History and why it can be a good thing. In this article I will discuss what is more accurately called fake history and a few of the people who promote it.
Fake history has been around for a long time. Many of the tales our distant ancestors wrote fall into that category, although to be fair, the people who created Biblical and other religious stories were probably not intent on deceiving either the contemporary public or future generations, and they were certainly not intent on brainwashing schoolchildren like today’s fake historians. The parable of the Good Samaritan is clearly not a true story but one told to illustrate a point.
Today’s fake historians peddle fake facts (lies), true facts out of context, and false narratives. Let us start with the fake facts. These concern largely the history of Black Africa, ie Sub-Saharan Africa. There is a whole pseudo-historical discipline based on this known as Afrocentrism. Books such as Walter Rodney’s How Europe Underdeveloped Africa (1972) and the ludicrously titled The Destruction Of Black Civilization from the previous year are two examples of this nonsense.
Such books attempt to persuade the gullible reader that civilisation is a “black thing”. The reality is very different. Where the White Man hadn’t trod or the Arab before him, black Africans lived in mud huts and never got round even to inventing the wheel. The African had no written language, and it is generally acknowledged that without a written language, civilisation cannot progress because knowledge cannot be transmitted down the generations.
The world in which we live was created overwhelmingly by white men (including Jews), specifically white MEN. There have been significant contributions by especially the Arabs and the Chinese, and in the modern world, the contribution of all races is increasing, but without the technologies developed by a few hundred mostly long dead white men, we would still be living in Mediaeval conditions or worse. The nonsense of the Afrocentrists and other pseudo-historians is best summed up in this embarrassing statement by cultural anthropologist Melville Herskovitts from 1941:
“Let us suppose, in short, it could be shown that the Negro is a man with a past and a reputable past; that in time the concept could be spread that the civilizations of Africa, like those of Europe, have contributed to American culture as we know it today; and that this idea might eventually be taken over into the canons of general thought. Would this not, as a practical measure, tend to undermine the assumptions that bolster racial prejudice?”
In other words, let us invent black history. Totally unreal.
Our modern day fake historians have taken up this challenge with zeal, arguably none more so than David Olusoga. Fortunately, no one has done more to debunk Olusoga’s rewriting of especially British history than the YouTube vlogger Simon Webb. Be sure to check out his channel: History Debunked.
Sadly, many people with a valid claim to scholarship and who should know better, don’t. So for example we see Olusoga’s Black And British reviewed favourably by the Historic England blog.
On this page, the reader is fed Olusoga’s pap about Beachy Head Lady (or Beachy Head Woman), who was said to have been an African inhabitant of Britain around 200-300AD. This young woman was actually of Southern European origin, and most likely came from Cyprus.
In one of the programmes he made for the BBC, Olusoga claimed African soldiers of the Roman army guarded Hadrian’s Wall. This is a common semantic trick used by people of his political persuasion. These soldiers may have been Africans, but they were not Negroes – to use a strangely unfashionable but taxonomically correct word. The implication though is that they were – ie black Africans. Of course, not all Africans are black; both Richard Dawkins and Elon Musk are Africans – by birth.
This trick is often used to perpetuate the absurd lie that race does not exist – there is only one race, the human race, etc. There is no human race, there is a human species. If an elderly woman refers to her children, we know full well she is referring to grown adults, not babes in arms.
Olusoga would have his readers and viewers believe that Britain became rich by exploiting its colonial subjects, and of course by its complicity in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. The reality is that however much we may abhor the horrors of the past, Britain contributed to the world mightily. More black Americans now own their own homes than at any other time in history; but for the trans-Atlantic slave trade, they would have owned only their own mud huts.
Olusoga has even suggested that the British Royal Family should pay reparations for the slave trade. He is far from the only one, of course, some black politicians make even more absurd arguments. None have any merit, but the people who are currently misruling Britain are so spiritually sick they may well do so at some point.
On the other side of the Atlantic, a woman called Nikole Hannah-Jones is if anything even more delusional than David Olusoga. A journalist rather than an historian, she is the woman behind The 1619 Project, which is the worst kind of Revisionist History. The United States is generally believed to have been founded in 1776 with the Declaration Of Independence. Hannah-Jones and her ilk would have you believe it was founded in 1619 when the first black slaves arrived in the then Colony of Virginia. The reality is that enslaved blacks were taken to the New World a long time before that, but the bottom line of her work is the same as Olusoga’s – Whitey owes us.
Hannah-Jones has been widely and accurately criticised, but as with the nonsense of Olusoga, these criticisms have been largely ignored. The reason for this is simple, the people who control most of the Western media are intent on brainwashing especially the young. These people were once believed to be Jews. The atrocities of October 7 last year and the disgusting response to them by the extreme left knocks a hole in that argument.
Bad as are Olusoga and Hannah-Jones, others are worse. The 2017 book Black Tudors by Miranda Kaufmann goes out of its way to convince us that there was a sizeable black population in Britain during the time of Henry VIII. There was certainly two, by far the most famous of whom was a musician named John Blanke (pictured).
David Starkey is a real historian – the world’s leading Henry VIII scholar - and as he pointed out, much of the book is written in italics, meaning it is more mythology than history. Simon Webb has also gone through the book and finds it wanting, most of the photographs it contains are misleading.
We are fortunate to have many films of street scenes in Britain from the beginning of motion pictures, and photographs before that. Blacks are noticeable by their absence. There is no reason to suppose there were more in previous centuries than there were then.
Much more could be written in this vein, but as Thomas Sowell – a real black scholar – has often asked, what was the alternative? The alternative to White Supremacy was Yellow Supremacy, and it may yet be. History as written by Afrocentrist morons is one of wonderful Africans and evil whites. Because the White Race has been the dominant race throughout history – certainly for the last thousand years – it has been responsible for most of the evils in the world as well as most of the good. People who stress only the former would be called racists if they applied the same standard to judging blacks, and anti-Semites if they applied them to Jews.
The trans-Atlantic slave trade was without question one of the greatest evils in history, but it was far from a white monopoly, Africans sold their own kin into slavery, and in the New World, even Native Americans owned black slaves.
The greatest act of mass murder during the Twentieth Century was perpetrated by China against its own people, so we can argue whether or not this constitutes genocide. While it is important that we interpret the past accurately for its own sake, we also need to understand the past in order to negotiate the future. In short, the blame game has to stop.
The above concerns the rewriting of history from a racial perspective. Feminists have also undertaken this task, although their lies and deceptions are based more on false narratives than on false facts. This will be the subject of a future article.
