The Cause Of Their Discontent
On the last day of 2024, I made my annual late night pilgrimage to Trafalgar Square, and afterwards, as I always do, walked around the West End. At one point, I stopped to talk to a man who was sitting in the front of a theatre in a sleeping bag. I asked him if he was homeless and he said he was, that he had been here for two years. I’m not sure if he meant that particular spot or just homeless. He was somewhat younger than me, and what impressed me most about him was his accent. He was well-spoken and had what could be called a middle class accent, as far as these still exist.
According to the BBC, as of December 1 last year, a staggering 33,684 people had crossed the English Channel in small boats. The official British Government website gives a breakdown of these figures by month in addition to a great deal of related information.
What happens to these men when they arrive? Yes, they are overwhelmingly men; they are dumped in working class communities the length and breadth of the land, including Wales. The Irish Republic has a similar problem. For the most part, these men are being put up in hotels. In some instances, hotel staff have been sacked and the buildings turned into hostels for these bogus asylum seekers.
For example, the Stradey Park Hotel near Llanelli was closed last year and was proposed to re-open as a hostel but the project was eventually shelved, apparently due to vigorous local opposition and protests. Other protests have not been successful.
Let us be quite clear about this, all these men arriving on boats are illegal immigrants, they are not asylum seekers. Overwhelmingly they come from France, which is a safe country, and mostly not the first safe country they reached. For the most part we haven’t a clue who they are because they destroy or throw away their papers before they arrive. There are definitely terrorist elements among them, as well as criminals with a capital C. They arrive here from France because the French cannot get rid of them fast enough and like the British Government, they are not prepared to deport them, as they should. Here, they are living pampered lives, some are working in the black economy – which means they are at least supporting themselves to a degree – while others are hanging around on street corners to the annoyance and sometimes worse of young women, including schoolgirls.
All this is happening while our own people like the man I spoke to in the West End, are homeless, for two years in his case, for much longer in others. At one time, the homeless in this country were limited with few exceptions to people who had drink and similar problems, although there were homeless families too. As long ago as 1966, the BBC produced a highly acclaimed dramatisation, Cathy Come Home, which explored this shameful issue.
There are still homeless families in Britain a half century and more later. Others are trapped in very substandard accommodation. Unsurprisingly, native born Britons resent this migrant invasion, especially the way they are being pampered, and at times have reacted angrily, even violently, against it. The response of the authorities has been in marked contrast to the far, far more violent protests during the Summer of Floyd. This was the reaction of then Opposition Leader Keir Starmer and his future Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner – who the historian David Starkey pointed out is the only Secretary of State to leave school with more children than A Levels.
The riots in Southport following the terrible massacre there, the murder of three young girls and the wounding of many others, were put down vigorously with the diversity hire Chief Constable of Merseyside Sarah Kennedy warning “we” are coming after all the participants. Including, apparently, people who simply watched or filmed the riots. We saw a similar approach taken by the American police state after the so-called insurrection of January 2021 when people who had simply trespassed or committed no actual crime were hunted down as though they were serial killers.
There is a very simple and sinister reason for this. The people now in control of Britain are intent on destroying it. The same could be said of the United States although now with the re-election of Donald Trump against all odds, the tide there appears to be turning. In Britain though, in Ireland, and many other nations of Western Europe, we see the same playbook. The natives are being treated like rubbish; people don’t like being treated like rubbish, and when they react to it, we see the same, tired response from the enemies of especially the white working class, namely suppression, legal persecution, and at times outright violence by the street thugs of the extreme left.
Why Western Governments are permitting this, why they are doing it, will be the subject of a future article.
