No, The Aliens Are Not Here

Take a gander at the photograph below. If you don’t know what floaters are, you are not alone. I was over sixty before I realised what they are. I have experienced them since I was very young, certainly as a teen, probably before that. They are shown here on a blue background but usually I would see them against a white or clear background, with a clouded sky or not looking up at the sky. The ones I saw looked mostly like translucent tree trunks floating slowly downwards. I never told anyone about them because, well, because. I really did think they were some sort of alien visitation or fragments that had somehow burst out of the fifth dimension.

Floaters are of course caused by imperfections within the eye, although they give the impression they are moving at a distance.  I still get them but they are a lot rarer now. I have just started wearing glasses again for the first time in around a decade; I never wore them as a child.
