Imane Khelif Deserves An Apology
The Paris Olympics of August 2024 were not without controversy, something that is far from unusual for such events because there are always allegations of drug taking, cheating, bribery or something else, whether true or not.
This time however the controversy concerned two female boxers who were said to be men: Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan and Imane Khelif of Algeria. Lin Yu-ting certainly looks male, not like a man but like a teenage boy. Khelif has a kind of male face, as do many Arab women, which is probably the real reason the Niqab is so popular in that part of the world, but that’s another story.
Seriously though, the controversy over Khelif has now been resolved, she - and I use that word wilfully - has been shown to be a male karotype. A full explanation can be found here, but basically the “haters” were right. Sort of.
It was believed initially by those not familiar with her history that Khelif was a transwoman, ie a cheat. An excellent documentary (if I say so myself) can be found here; it explains all you need to know about the so-called trans movement. There are many types of trans people but when it comes to sport, these are men and teenage boys who pose as members of the opposite sex to win medals. For the most part they are second tier athletes, and because only around 4% of the most physically superior women can keep up with the most physically superior men, the trans cheaters win almost all the medals. If you are not familiar with the 4% Rule, here is a short explanation of it.
Imane Khelif is not trans but was assigned female at birth (yes, we have to use that phrase here) and was raised as a girl. She continues to live as one, and that is her right, even if she is now deemed unfit for female competition, including boxing, a sport for which all women should be deemed unfit.
Khelif lost to Amy Broadhurst in Bulgaria two years earlier, finishing with a silver medal.
This confirmation of what the doubters believed, should not be seen as a victory. The Imane Khelifs of this world are a very tiny percentage of our incredibly diverse species. Already, some people are gloating on YouTube. If someone is mocked for being black, Jewish, congenitally disabled or simply congenitally stupid, we hear never ending cries of racism, ad nauseam, but for some reason it appears acceptable to mock people who were born with this kind of genetic abnormality.
Imane Khelif deserves an apology and should now be left in peace to pursue her own destiny, whatever that may be.
